Where did the time go

Goodness I have seriously neglected my blog! Needless to say we have heaps to catch up on, shows, new studio and lots of exciting projects. I am going to be working hard on upgrading my blog, product pages and hopefully adding a shop over the next few weeks,

watch this space,

New Designers was AMAZING

I had a fantastic time at New Designers, meeting new customers and getting to know the fabulous designers in the One Year On section. It is a great social experience for us makers after slaving away on our own in our studios. I was also delighted and a little overwhelmed to have been chosen for the New Designers One Year On award.

New Designers One Year On

I am really excited to be exhibiting at New Designers again. I has been a long hard slog in the run up to the show not least because of recovering from appendicitis but also because I have come up against nearly every technical challenge ceramics can throw at you. Still with a ridiculous amount of stubbornness and a great deal of support from friends and family I am getting there. I may not be awake enough to speak to anybody next week but I think the work looks good. Phew.

Sweet enough

These have just been finished and I love them, great for sugar or salt and pepper, well anything you like really. I can’t wait to make some more (mainly cause I want them for my kitchen too). I will be adding these and my new Drainpipe vases to my Not on The Highstreet store soon.

Meanwhile check out my other products here: http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/tazpollardceramics

Well I think I have just about recovered. What an amazing few days with Katie (coadg), Fanny, Annabel, Nancy and of course Keith, all fabulously talented and lovely too.

Some pics of us getting ready and packing down. I also took a few of the inside of Earls Court not just because it will be demolished soon but I love all the industrial pipes and framework.

I am so pleased with the amount of interest my work got and I am really excited to see what happens over the next few weeks, I will keep you posted. Not only did I get a great response to my work but I have learnt so much from the experience. I feel much better prepared to do this kind of show in the future and so many people were generous with their advice and help, from taking style shots to pricing and stand design.

Here are some of Yeshen Venema’s photographs of the show. Yeshen is a product photographer for designer/makers check him out @ www.yeshenvenema.com

Wowzers what a year

So much has happened in the past year its gonna be hard to squeeze it all in but needless to say I couldn’t have asked for a better start to my new business. From building giant sculptures to my first large scale commission and being shortlisted and selected for several shows and awards, awesome!

So moving on to 2014 I will be showing my work as part of the Confessions of a design geek stand at Home London from the 12th-14th of January and I have new stockists in the pipeline and new branding so watch this space.

I would also like to introduce you to my trusty assistant Nicola, who has just joined team Taz :),

Nicola is super fabulous and super organised so much so she even dreams in lists (I am not joking). I think every artist needs someone like Nicola to keep them in check. Nicola will also be managing the new online shop which will be up and running by the end of next week.

So thank you for your support during 2013 and I cant wait to see what 2014 will bring. Happy New Year, Taz
